.asia: Go Live period starts today!

Last registration phase for .asia domains is going alive within the next hours. Registrations will be based on a first-come-first-served system. During the ealier stages,

- 30,000 .asia applications during Sunrise period and Pioneers
- 300,000 domain applications submitted during Landrush
- 45,000 domains will go to auction

.asia: updated application and auction lists

DotAsia has updated the list of .asia domain applications (view application list). The new list includes .asia domains submitted during SR2b, SR2c and SR3 phases. Amid the 30,000 .asia applications, short domains (between 1 and 3 characters) and numeric domains (1.asia, 10.asia, etc.) have been hugely requested.

Dot-asia: Pioneer Domains Program starts

asiaIn order to encourage expansion of .asia website content, DotAsia launches today the Pioneer Domains program, a parallel opening phase to the official .asia start (read our article "Trademarks : .asia calendar"). The application deadline is fixed for 31st August 2007.

Registration of internet keywords in China

imagesIn China, registration of keywords in Chinese ideograms and Latin characters is a new rising business tendency since a few months (see our article). The purpose of these keywords is to make the navigation on the web easier for Chinese users by matching a keyword with an URL.

.asia : a new regional extension approved by ICANN

asiaICANN validates dot asia on 18/10/06, which will be available within 6-9 months. This TLD aims at reflecting businesses and individuals located in Pacific Asia on the web, and reaching the larger community. According to DotAsia Organisation Ltd, .asia will first support Latin alphabet, then Asian languages (IDNs).
