Il y a à peine 10 ans, en France, Google était inconnu du grand public. L’Internet était considéré comme un gadget, sorte de nouveau “minitel mondial multimedia“. Les outils de recherche étaient scindés entre “moteurs” et “index”. On parlait d’Altavista, de Yahoo!, de Inktomi, de DMOZ, de Voila, d’Infoseek, de Lycos, de Francité et autres HotBot… On parlait également beaucoup de télécoms, avec la privatisation de France Télécom, qui était jusque-là assis sur son monopole d’opérateur historique. Microsoft strengthens its efforts against infringing domain names (winowslivemessenger.com, www.micr0soft.co.uk…). The software giant is suing in the United States the company Maltuzi LLC, which has registered domain names around its brands (source: Microsoft Corp.).
